The complexity of natural perfumes - perfume workshop
When people think of natural perfumes, many imagine something simple. It is often assumed that the fragrance will be less complex than a traditional perfume, smelling simply of lemon, lavender, or another recognizable essential oil. This idea is especially reinforced when we think of a perfume composed solely of essential oils. Yet the experience of natural perfumery reveals something quite different.
The richness of essential oils
An essential oil is a complex scent. It is a living material composed of dozens, sometimes hundreds, of aromatic molecules. When working with these essences, one quickly discovers an astonishing depth and complexity. Building a perfume with essential oils means revealing the beauty and purity of each material:
-
the bright, sparkling freshness of citrus
-
the soft, powdery or sun-kissed sweetness of flowers
-
the depth of woods and resins
Each essence has its own characteristics, its own personality, its own evolution. And this is precisely what makes natural perfumery so fascinating.

Rediscovering scents in their pure form
During perfume creation workshops, one of the moments I enjoy most is when participants begin exploring and discovering the raw materials. We often feel that we already know certain scents. Sandalwood, jasmine, cedarwood… these fragrances seem familiar. But smelling them in their pure form, without any surrounding composition, is a very different experience. We begin to discover their many facets, sometimes greener, spicier, more powdery, sweeter, or deeper than we imagined. Smelling a material on its own helps us understand both its complexity and its role in a perfume. A scent that may seem subtle on its own can become essential once blended with other aromas. This is what fascinates me during our workshops: witnessing your reactions when you discover these scents and begin combining them. We may enjoy two fragrances individually, yet when they are blended together, the new scent they create can sometimes surprise us—either less appealing, or even more beautiful.
This is the true complexity and magic of composing a perfume.

Montreal, a city of creativity
Montreal is a deeply artistic city. It is home to an incredible diversity of craftsmanship: artisans, creators, artists, and passionate individuals exploring their disciplines with sensitivity and imagination. It is a city that celebrates creativity in all its forms. And it is also what makes it an ideal place to discover the art of perfume creation. Whether you live here, in the surrounding region, or are simply visiting, participating in a perfume creation workshop in Montreal becomes both a sensory and creative experience, one that often leaves a lasting memory. I feel very grateful to be able to host and share these beautiful scented moments with you.
A moment of sharing around scents
During our perfume workshops, our intention is simple: to create a warm space for discovery and shared enjoyment around scents. It is a moment where everyone can take the time to smell, explore, and express their impressions. Fragrances often evoke memories, emotions, and images. Sharing these sensations naturally creates a wonderful group dynamic and meaningful moments together. Little by little, each participant explores, selects their materials, and composes a personalized perfume. Our goal is to give you the opportunity to create a fragrance that truly reflects you, one that resonates with your emotions and personality by choosing the essential oils that speak to you most.

Whether you come alone or with someone, our goal remains the same: to offer you an immersive sensory experience and guide you in creating your own personalized perfume.
Traveling through scents
Creating a perfume is a bit like telling a story with scents.
Each note brings a nuance, an emotion, an atmosphere. Through our perfume creation workshops in Montreal, we mainly wish to invite you to slow down, explore your sense of smell and your emotions, and let your intuition guide you. It is not always easy to express what we feel when we smell something. Sometimes, it can even be difficult to say whether we truly like a scent or not. This may seem surprising, but it is actually quite true. We have a rich vocabulary to describe colors or flavors, yet describing scents often feels more difficult. And yet, we use our sense of smell every day, often without even realizing it, without always appreciating the richness and complexity of the scents that surround us.
So whether you are simply curious to discover natural perfumery, looking for a unique experience in Montreal, or wishing to create a custom perfume, we welcome you warmly into our world.
The rest belongs to your imagination… and to your nose.
